Your appointment
Prior to your appointment
Three days (72 hours) prior to your appointment stop taking antihistamines as these can interfere with skin prick testing. You can continue to take all other regular medications.
Take photos of rashes or swellings to bring to your appointment.
If food allergy is suspected, bring in the packaging of any products, contact the manufacturer or restaurant, and bring in the food of concern as fresh food skin prick testing will be considered if deemed safe.
Your appointment day
Please bring your referral letter, Medicare card and medications list.
For patients with suspected food allergies, please bring in any products that are suspected to have caused a reaction.
If available, please bring relevant specialist letters, medical discharge summaries, previous imaging and lung function reports, pathology results or photos of previous rashes or swellings.
Initial appointments usually last 30 – 45 minutes.
Cancellations
We understand that circumstances can change and rescheduling may be required. However, we have a number of patients that request urgent review. In order to provide adequate notice to patients on our cancellation list, we request that rescheduling requests are made at least 3 business days prior to your scheduled appointment. We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of $50 if cancellations are requested after this point. Where cancellation is requested on the day of your appointment, we may, at our discretion, raise a cancellation fee of 50% of the consultation fee.
